How Dan McTeague became a shill for the oil industry
Wow! Gas is up to $1.36 a litre, yet the price of oil has fallen from $145 to about $102 per barrel. How can this be? Hurricane Ike hasn’t even struck yet, no-one knows what damage if any there will be and yet gas rises thirteen cents a litre overnight.
And how do we know this? Because oil industry spokesman, liberal MP Dan McTeague who represents the riding of Pickering-Scarborough East, tells us.
Didn’t McTeague have a reputation as the Gas-buster? The guy who railed about the profits made by the oil industry? Now he lets us know when the price is going down (rarely) or up (frequently).
I’m not sure if he does this on the basis that any publicity is good publicity. I can’t quite figure out how having your name associated with a thirteen-cent-a-litre increase would be a positive, especially with an election only weeks away. I guess it’s been hard for liberals to get much publicity lately, especially since they want to tax these higher gas prices.
And what is with the tame media seals? “Gas guru Dan McTeague tells us that gas prices are going up tonight,” they report breathlessly. Can they not call the oil companies themselves? Is McTeague the only guy in the country that knows what the gas prices will be tomorrow? Can they not talk to the person at the nearest gas station?
These are the things that furrow my brow in the mornings on my way into work.

At least he’s doing something….a little public education on how and why we are being ripped off goes a long way. You cannot expect one opposition MP to affect the price when the conservatives do nothing.
You go on dissing him yet you have no suggestions on how to moderate the prices or who should be investigating the oil companies.
This is typical of the right wing…attack personalities to divert attention away from the real problem. As if McTeague is the problem. He’s the messenger just like Ervin and Associates
who are often the spokespeople (lobbyists) for the oil companies.

ISN’T IT FUNNY HOW COMPANIES IN QUEBEC GET BUSTED FOR PRICE FIXING FUEL PRICES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WE HAVE A PRICE “GURU” IN ONTARIO WHO LEAGALLY BROADCASTS “PREDICTIONS” DAILY. NO PHONE CALLS NEEDED TO “ADJUST ” PRICES WITH COMPETITIVE STATIONS NOW . JUST TUNE IN TO THE RADIO EVERY AFTERNOON AND LISTEN TO DAN. THEN SET THE PRICE AT MIDNIGHT. NOOOO THAT’S NOT PRICE FIXING! Guess what…gas prices are dropping midnight tonight (17th) another 6 cents per litre…I guess you can call me the Gas Guru now!! McTeague is just a wind bag that likes to be heard!!
Toronto media…what a joke to give this guy the time of day. If anyone wants the secret…let me know.

Not sure if anyone ever reads these but me?…..anyways the new Gas Guru RJay is predicting another drop in Gas Prices at Hog Town’s pumps after midnight…another drop of 6 cents per litre.

After verifying this tomorrow, you the people will have no choice but to send me money…so I can save you money…hey why didn’t a politician think of that…oh, they already do…it’s called their income.

What happened to the gas prices at the pump when they used to be 1=2 cents below the $ price / barrel?? e.g. $ 1.24/barrel -= $1.23 at the pumps????
—–today oil/barrel is at $70. /baarrel yet gas prices are just below $1,00 and that just yesterday!!!
